Schedule

Live Like a Timucua
  • Learn of the original inhabitants of our area, the Timucua Native Americans, as you visit the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum to see up-close their way of life and touch tools they used.
  • Forage just as the Native Americans would have for natural resources to use in our next craft!
  • It’s pottery making time! Use your foraged items to decorate a clay pot, which will be fired for you to take home!
Tuesday, June 4
St. Marys Scavenger Hunt!
  • Discover the history of St. Marys – and gain VIP access inside its historic buildings – as you go on a scavenger hunt through downtown!
  • It’s game time! Let’s play wiffleball, mimicking games that would have been played in St. Marys a century ago.
  • Learn how African Americans would have gathered seafood by cast netting in the St. Marys River!
Wednesday, June 5
Cumberland Island Time

8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

(Note: This is the only day of the camp with different start and end times)

  • Today, we visit Cumberland Island to discover thousands of years of history, from the Native Americans to the Spanish, early Americans to the Gilded Age, and beyond!
  • See haunting ruins, view wild horses, and learn of the nature of Cumberland Island.
  • Now for the beach! Here, we will seine for fish in the ocean and run relay races just as the Carnegie family did 100 years ago!
Thursday, June 6
Under the Sea
  • We are back in St. Marys to explore the St. Marys Submarine Museum and decipher the meaning of its countless artifacts with the museum’s director!
  • Then, we will do crafts based on unexpected submarine residents: animals!
  • Now it’s time to discover prominent locals buried in Oak Grove Cemetery on a scavenger hunt!
Friday, June 7
Eat Our Way Through St. Marys
  • Today is all about food! Make your own pizza at Yankee Pie Apizza and then enjoy eating a slice!
