Fugitives, Fighters, and Fudge: St. Marys Walking Tour
Hangout of smugglers, shelter for a fleeing Aaron Burr, home base for Revolutionary War traitors.
Our flagship tour presents the most significant events and people from St. Marys’ 250-year history and includes special VIP access to the town’s iconic landmarks, such as the First Presbyterian Church, one of the oldest church buildings in Georgia, and the historic Riverview Hotel, where such names as Rockefeller and Carnegie stayed. Afterwards, let us treat you to homemade fudge at one of St. Marys’ premier shops!

An Occupied Town: St. Marys in the War of 1812
If you think St. Marys was a peaceful riverfront town centuries ago as it is today, think again!
War came in January 1815 with the British occupation of St. Marys during the War of 1812. On this walking tour, meet the colorful characters who participated in the local battle (including a British admiral who had burned Washington), take in the beautiful historic homes involved in the occupation of St. Marys, and discover buildings you may not have known existed, such as a fort located along the riverfront.
